【Behind the Scenes】The Story of CB Academy & The Birth of Our First Beaded DIY Kit
Have you ever had an idea or a desire to try something new, but hesitated to take the very first step?
As the founder of the handmade brand Cherry Blosssom, I’ve always been passionate about promoting the art of beadwork. Beyond designing and creating exquisite finished beaded accessories, I often found myself wondering: Is there a way for people to not only own beautiful pieces, but also experience the pure joy of creating them with their own hands?
And with that thought, CB Academy by Cherry Blosssom was born!
To kick off this new chapter, we are excited to launch our very first Mini Beaded Plant Phone Strap DIY Kit. Today, I’d love to take you behind the scenes (BTS) and share the journey, dedication, and stories behind bringing this tiny kit to life.
1. Creating a Video Tutorial is Harder Than Designing the Product?
I originally thought that once the design was finalized and the beads were sorted, the hard part would be over. Little did I know, the real challenge was just beginning—we actually had to write a full script for a tutorial!
To stay true to CB Academy's vision, I wanted to provide an engaging and accessible experience for craft lovers of all skill levels. Even complete beginners with zero experience should be able to follow along effortlessly. Therefore, I wrote the video script completely from scratch, breaking down complex techniques into the most intuitive steps.
Even with a script, filming was filled with unexpected hiccups:
- Endless retakes: To capture every tiny movement clearly, my hands had to stay perfectly centered in front of the lens. A slight loss of focus or shaky hands meant starting all over again.
- Testing by Mother Nature: To get the best natural sunlight, we moved outdoors for the product photoshoot. But less than 10 minutes after finishing, the sky suddenly turned dark and a heavy rainstorm poured down!
2. 49 Hours of Obsessive Details: Crafting a Thoughtful Learning Experience
Beyond the video tutorials, the physical kit and overall learning experience were just as important.
To have everything ready in time for our pop-up market, I spent an intense 49 hours refining every single detail—from the layout and color-matching of the user manual to the visual design of the packaging. The moment I held the freshly printed materials in my hands and saw the final product, the feeling of accomplishment was truly indescribable!
